Cristiano Ronaldo signs new deal with Saudi club Al-Nassr to end speculations over future

Ronaldo’s previous Al-Nassr deal was due to expire at the end of June.

In a post on X, Ronaldo wrote: “A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let’s make history together.”

The announcement of a new contract ends a period of speculation around Ronaldo’s future at the club after he posted a cryptic message at the end of the 2024-25 season. “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” it read.

A new chapter begins

Ronaldo had earlier confirmed that he would not feature in the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

The global superstar has continued his prolific scoring form in Saudi Arabia, registering 93 goals and 19 assists in 105 appearances across all competitions for the Saudi club, but is yet to win a league title.

Al Nassr finished third last season, missing out on a spot in next year’s AFC Champions League Elite. They will now instead play in the AFC Champions League 2.

Al Nassr is searching for a new manager after Stefano Pioli left the role on Wednesday. The Italian was the third full-time coach to leave the club since Ronaldo’s arrival.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker recently clinched his third international title with Portugal at the UEFA Nations League.
